Lecturer Profile

Asao Tokoro
Born in Tokyo in 1969. He began studying architecture at a young age and studied under Shin Egashira.Beginning on September 11, 2001, he began creating patterns centered on the theme of “connecting,” and has continued to work at the intersection of fine art, architecture, and design. He creates patterns and motifs based on simple geometric principles that can be reproduced using a ruler and compass, and also designs and produces three-dimensional objects applying the same principles.

2016– Present: Part-time Lecturer, Faculty of Engineering, The University of Tokyo
2016– Present: Visiting Professor, Tokyo Zokei University
2017– Present: Part-time Lecturer, University of Tsukuba

<Major Works>
2012: Created façade patterns for the “Kogakuin University 125th Anniversary Comprehensive Education Building”
2013–2016: Created the lower-level facade glass pattern for the “Grand Nagoya Building”
2015: Provided “TOKOLO PATTERN” artwork to BAO BAO ISSEY MIYAKE
2016: Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Emblem
