In recent years, numerous urban regeneration projects have been underway in central Tokyo, leveraging the private sector to address urban challenges.
“Tokyo Midtown Hibiya,” which held its grand opening on March 29, has served as a core project in the “International Business/Arts and Culture Hub” urban development initiative for the Hibiya area. Through public-private collaboration, the project has advanced urban development efforts, including the creation of public spaces and sustainable area management.
We are pleased to welcome Mr. Takuya Fujii of Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd.—who has been driving Hibiya’s urban development from a private-sector perspective—to deliver a lecture on the background of the project, the development framework, and the goals pursued in Hibiya’s urban renewal.
In addition, during a panel discussion featuring representatives from Nikken Sekkei, we will explore the future of public spaces and area management through public-private collaboration, incorporating the public sector’s perspective.

Takuya Fujii
Group Leader, Hibiya Urban Development Promotion Department, Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd.
Joined Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. in 1992. After gaining experience in sublease building development, legal affairs, and land subdivision, he has been involved in securing business opportunities, formulating development methods, obtaining development permits and licenses, and formulating and implementing urban development guidelines in the Tokyo Bay area and the three central wards, including Lazona Kawasaki and the Toyosu 2 & 3 district. Since 2010, he has been involved in the development of Tokyo Midtown Hibiya, handling everything from scheme construction in the initial planning stages to operation after the building's completion.
