Summer RikoChallenge 2022 Event
Why not join our “Architectural Firm Experience”?
A workshop to design “toilets that anyone can use,” catering to diversity

SEMINAR/EVENT
2022.06.13
Nikken Sekkei is supporting the event “Summer Riko Challenge 2022—Experience Careers in Science and Engineering!” organized by the Bureau for Gender Equality at Cabinet Office, which aims to foster talent in science and engineering, and will be hosting a workshop.
The diversification of people’s lifestyles has accelerated even further in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many people are grappling with how to design architectural and urban spaces to meet the diverse needs of users in buildings and public spaces. To address these social challenges, Nikken Sekkei views its own workspaces as a testing ground and is exploring, from various perspectives, what constitutes a better office environment—one that benefits both employees and the environment. One of these initiatives is the theme of designing restrooms suited to this new era; we aim to create restrooms where everyone—regardless of age, nationality, disability, gender, or other individual characteristics (Private)—can feel comfortable. At this event, we invite you to experience a part of the process we use in our actual work, and we’ll explore together what it would mean to install new “restrooms that are easy for everyone to use” at your school. We hope you’ll join us.

Kensuke Ando

After working at Architectural Design Department for 10 years, he leverages his diverse project experience and engineering expertise to create branding and spatial designs.

Kaede Hatajima

Additionally, as “Sally Kaede,” I give lectures on diversity and GSM (Gender and Sexual Minorities), and am actively involved in advocacy as a transgender person.

Yuta Sano

During his five years at his previous employer, Mitsubishi Jisho Sekkei, he was involved in the architectural design of “JFA Yume Field,” a major facility for the Japan Football Association, and worked on large-scale projects such as offices, hotels, and commercial facilities both in Japan and abroad.
