From November 11 to 14, Nikken Sekkei exhibited at “Cityscape Global 2024,” the Middle East’s largest real estate exhibition, where it showcased projects in the Middle East and a prototype for next-generation skyscrapers.
Held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, under the theme “The Future of Living,” the exhibition aims to expand domestic and international investment opportunities in Saudi Arabia’s rapidly developing real estate sector.

At our booth, we showcased projects that illustrate our history in Saudi Arabia, ranging from the Islamic Development Bank (Jeddah), completed over 30 years ago, to our latest award-winning project, the Tadawul Tower.We also introduced One Za’abeel, a cutting-edge urban development project in the United Arab Emirates, as well as waterfront apartment complexes, offering a glimpse into the new lifestyles emerging in the region.
“We are currently working to propose a new model for communities in Saudi Arabia aimed at the younger generation, who are increasingly exposed to international trends,” said Fadi Jabri, Director at Nikken Sekkei Dubai (NIKKEN SEKKEI FZ-LLC) and President and CEO.“We focus on distinctive designs that seamlessly connect indoor and outdoor spaces, incorporate abundant light and views, and make the most of the site’s environment. In particular, we place great emphasis on the integration of landscaping and public spaces, aiming to create a more sublime new experience inspired by the Japanese concept of ‘borrowed scenery.’”

Furthermore, through the exhibition of a prototype for next-generation skyscrapers, we provided insights into the future of skyscraper design.Through various innovations in this prototype—such as a hybrid steel-and-wood structure inspired by plants and a transportation system combining shuttle elevators and escalators—it may be possible to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 40% over the building’s entire life cycle.

Following last year, we exhibited jointly with Buchan, an Australian architectural firm with which we have had a business partnership since 2015.
