We held a lecture focused on promoting women's participation in the workforce.

On July 22, Nikken Sekkei held a lecture titled “NIKKEN FORUM: The End of Male-Dominated Corporations—Toward Diversity Management That Changes the Landscape” at the Keidanren Hall (Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo), focusing on the theme of diversity management.
The event featured Keiko Hamada, a journalist and former editor-in-chief of AERA, as the guest speaker. Drawing on her personal experiences, she spoke about the need to promote women’s participation in the workforce and advance diversity.

Following the lecture, a roundtable discussion was held with Takayuki Ishikawa, Director of the Nikken Sekkei Research Institute, and Yuko Kimura, Head of the Urban Development Group at Nikken Sekkei Urban and Civil Project Department.
During the roundtable discussion, in response to facilitator Takayuki Ishikawa’s remark that “the qualities required of leaders—not just women—are changing, shifting from so-called outdated leadership styles to the leadership needed going forward,” Ms. Hamada stated:“It is important to effectively combine the unique characteristics that each individual possesses. Diversity means having people with a variety of strengths and characteristics. That makes an organization stronger. I believe a true leader is someone who can effectively bring such people together,” thereby outlining his vision of the ideal leader.
Furthermore, drawing on her own experience, Ms. Kimura sent a message to women as key stakeholders in diversity: “Through raising children, I’ve come to know all sorts of people I’d never encountered before, and I believe this has contributed to my own diversity. I hope everyone will adopt the perspective that gaining diverse experiences leads to career advancement and is a positive asset.”

The high level of interest in promoting women’s participation was evident from the reactions of the 400 attendees.
