Hiroyuki Shirai

In the spring of 1989 (the first year of the Heisei era), amid the boom of the economic bubble, I graduated from Kobe University’s graduate school and joined the company.I have worked on a wide range of projects, from large-scale mixed-use complexes such as Harumi Triton Square (2001), the Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi (2007), and Otemachi One (2020), to small- and medium-sized buildings such as the Yamaha Ginza and bank branches.In recent years, I have designed the Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Surugadai New Building (2012), which features a full-scale double-skin facade; the Yomiuri Shimbun Building (2013), with its airflow windows; the Keiyo Bank Chiba Minato Headquarters (2015), equipped with deep horizontal overhangs and climber blinds;KANDA SQUARE (2020), which is covered by horizontal and vertical canopies—he has created numerous smart buildings that deliver high environmental performance by reducing solar heat gain. He single-mindedly pursues the robust yet delicate architecture demanded by the times. He is a First-Class Architect.
