Byung Jung
Design Director
In 2004, after completing a master's program at the University of Tsukuba, he joined Nikken Sekkei. Specializing in architectural design, he has realized a wide range of buildings, including commercial complexes, offices, and libraries, in Japan, China, and South Korea. In 2013, inspired by his studies at the UCL Bartlett Urban Design March, his main focus shifted to TOD (Transportation-Oriented Design), which deals with cities, public transport, and public spaces. He has been responsible for the design of integrated station-area developments such as Guangzhou ITC Xintang Station, Chongqing Shapingba Station, Guangzhou Baiyun Station, Shenzhen Xili Station, and Shanghai Longyang Road Station. As the next step in TOD development, he has been leading the Nikken Sekkei TOD Research Group since 2015, aiming to realize "urban architectural design and architectural urban space" that resolves urban fragmentation. He is a licensed first-class architect, a member of the Japan Institute of Architects, a registered architect, and a member of the Architectural Institute of Japan.
