Tokyo Station Yaesu Development I was involved in conceptualizing and planning projects centered around station areas—such as the Shinjuku Station area and the Nakano Station area—focusing primarily on transportation and infrastructure (including plazas, roads, and underground shopping arcades).
A city is not merely a collection of individual elements such as roads, plazas, and buildings; it becomes an area with the greatest potential—and one where value can be maximized—only when the synergy among these elements is optimized.
Furthermore, the value of a city or area is determined by the types of “soft” elements—such as cultural and social activities—that are developed there. Rather than approaching matters through the silos of public versus private sectors, civil engineering versus architecture, or clients versus contractors, we believe Nikken Sekkei’s mission is to collaborate with every possible stakeholder to create the foundation for enhancing human well-being.
