A Pioneering Disaster-Resilient Residence
"Shonan C-X" is an urban regeneration project located in front of Tsujido Station, consisting of a 308-unit condominium complex situated on the front line of the residential district. The design aims to maximize the integration of Shonan’s mild climate and rich natural environment into the living spaces. Furthermore, the project focused on creating a landscape centered on abundant green spaces to harmonize with the existing residential neighborhood, while prioritizing environmental considerations. It secured local pedestrian routes connecting the new development with the existing neighborhood and developed roadside spaces to foster a local community, thereby creating a streetscape that offers both safety and convenience. Although the planning phase predated the Great East Japan Earthquake, the project reassessed disaster prevention standards, established a new disaster prevention system unprecedented in apartment complexes, and served as a pioneering initiative in raising awareness of its importance.
