Aya Unagami

After completing her graduate studies at Chiba University in 2002, she worked at architecture firms in Tokyo and Beijing before joining Nikken Sekkei’s Shanghai office; she joined Nikken Sekkei in 2019. Her specialty is architectural design. She participated in the establishment of the local design department in Shanghai and has been involved in a wide range of projects in China. Through thorough dialogue with local clients and engineers, she focuses on creating a sense of place and context through rich public spaces. Major projects include the “Ningbo Eastern New City Financial Service Center,” “Ningbo International Convention and Exhibition Center,” “Changzhou Financial Plaza,” and “Suzhou Wujiang Bus Terminal.” She is a member of the Architectural Institute of Japan and a First-Class Architect.
