A chapel that embodies Japanese aesthetics, set in the great outdoors
This wedding chapel embodies the Japanese sense of beauty. The building's design borrows from a Japanese architectural style in which deep eaves frame the landscape, and natural light shining through a high ceiling creates a "sacred" atmosphere. Since the chapel is also intended for conference use, decorative touches were kept to a minimum and materials were selected and configured in a simple, elegant manner. In good weather, the sashes can be opened to unite the interior and exterior, creating a semi-outdoor space surrounded by a lush forest, offering a variety of options to enjoy the seasons. The lectern, which stands in front of a metal mesh screen that channels light into the darkness, consists of a simple volume made of oak joined together with brass wedges. With its casual metal crucifix shape and natural presence, it can be used for both Christian and general public ceremonies.
