Mitsui Garden Hotel Jingugaien Tokyo PREMIER

This new hotel project is located in front of the National Stadium in Jingu Gaien, an area of lush greenery and historical and cultural facilities in the city’s heart. We proposed a new way to stay that combines the urban sense of Tokyo with the relaxed atmosphere of a resort. The design inspiration is drawn from the light, shadow, and natural springs of the forest. Jingu Gaien’s forest attributes are expressed in the hotel’s furniture and artwork. Guest rooms each have balconies made of Japanese cedar, with refreshing views on all sides. Wooden lounges are placed near windows to maximize the notion of coexistence with the rich outside space. The building seamlessly connects the interior and the exterior, from “relaxation space → window space → balcony → landscape,” and expresses “the refined slow life” yielded in the so-called "precious blank space" left in Tokyo’s wake.
