Mikiko Kato

In 1995, after completing her master’s degree at Kobe University Graduate School and experiencing the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, he joined Nikken Sekkei in April of that year. His specialty is structural design. She has designed projects such as the “Shiburan Kaikan at Kyoto University’s Faculty of Medicine,” the “Architectural Studio in the Department of Architecture at Mukogawa Women’s University,” the “Imperial Household Agency’s Shoso-in Office,” the “New Akasaka Center Building,” and “Kumamoto Prefectural Kagayakinomori School for Special Needs Education,” focusing on designs that utilize a diverse range of structural materials in the most appropriate ways for each application. He has received multiple awards for his structural design work. Her professional philosophy centers on communicating structural plans in an easy-to-understand manner, meticulously preparing “design drawings,” and constantly moving forward while maintaining humility. In 2007, he earned her Ph.D. from Kyoto University and continues to focus on architectural structural research. She is a Class 1 Structural Architect, a Certified Professional Engineer (Construction Division), and holds a Ph.D. in Engineering.
