Park Wellstate Hamadayama

This project is located in the quiet residential neighborhood of Hamadayama, Suginami Ward, just a short distance from central Tokyo. Based on the concept of “the garden and the house as one,” the design centers daily life around a lush inner courtyard—far more verdant than one might expect in this residential area—thereby creating a rich and fulfilling lifestyle. Furthermore, by excavating deeply below ground level and locating the common areas on the lower level, the design ensures that the building’s volume does not appear larger than that of the surrounding residential area. The excavated space is landscaped with greenery and a waterfall, and the interplay of streaming light, reflections from the water, and the dappled shade of the plants brings daily variation to the dining area, a space used every day.
